A new company based in the UK selling low cost diagnostic tools
for Rovers and MGs.  We already cover MEMS2J and have MEMS1.6 working in
the lab and soon available for customers.  Mini airbag controllers are
also working.

Sykes Pickavant ACR

The SP ACR is a moderately priced code reader that will work with both SPi and MPi Minis. There are several models: older 2 line gray case, 2 line blue case and the most recent 4 line blue case. The "line" refers to the number of lines of displayed information. A 2 line unit requires scrolling to see all information. The 4 line unit also has the ability to store and download information to a PC.

Information specific to a model of car is contained in a "pod." There are pods for a variety of makes and models. There are three versions for Rover cars. Rover Pod 2 does not function with any of the fuel injected Minis. Rover Pod 1 will work with the SPi Mini and Rover Pod 3 will work with both. SP now makes an MAP(Multi Application Pod). The special pod is updated from a CD that is available via subscription. Updates are made available approximately 3 times a year. The most recent MAP update for Rover includes the ability to program the immobiliser and key fobs.

A connecting cable is also required for communicating with the ECU. There are different cables for the SPi and MPi.
